  3. Photo Today was a good day. Got up and got a great work out in, then headed to work at General Assembly. After working for a few hour, I recieved a texted from a good buddy from back home who happens to live in NJ now. We ended up meeting up and walking around central park, and then a museum which only ended up costing $1 each….thanks to our large donations!

After getting lost several times in the museum and the park, we headed back to broadway to get some food. I realized I am completely out of shape as i lay aching in my bed right now, not wanting to move a muscle. The picture attached is over Columbus Circle and the beautiful skyscrapers that surround it. Overall a wonderful day, and i hope to see my friends again!

    1) Cool building…lol

    2) Worlds Thinnest Building

    3) NOT! Its a triangle…however pretty cool!

    4) Some dudes trying to preach about the Bible, and how they say the white people are telling it wrong, and Jesus was black…blah blah (I am not trying to offend anyone, and I know everyone can interpret the Bible their own way, but some of the stuff they were saying is NOT apart of what God wanted for us)

    5) If you look closely you wil see the popular NYC rats in the subways.

    6) Some guy next to me reading a news paper in all Arabic! Sweet!

Week one is over, and its been great! My father arrived on thursday night and we spent some time together going to dinner and a movie. We went to dinner at Beauty and Essex, which had the most amazing food. We ordered chicken meatballs, some ribs, onion rings, BLT’s…just delicious!

With no plans on a Friday night we decided to find something on broadway to attend and ended up at the Addams Family Musical. Even though I am not a huge fan of musicals, I must say this was rather entertaining and comical. It brought back great memories when the show used to be on TV.

I still cant get over the fact of how many Hustlers there are in this city. Everyone is trying to sell something, and even the hot dog stand will screw you over if you dont watch out. Make sure to count your change and ask the prices before you hand them cash. What an interesting city! Freedom of Speech surely is used here. As my father and I watched some bocce ball in Bryant Park, a man with a large sign was walking around yelling about how en from India rape children. It was rather sad, and horrible to think someone would be that rude and prejudice.

Three more weeks here and I still have a ton to learn.

Well, 2nd day in the city and I found my way around just fine this time. Took the right subways and got off at the right time =).

My First day at General Assembly went as planned. The people who run it are amazing and the people who work here are great. I spent about 4 hours here yesterday, got some work done, then it was off to explore some more food places. I came across a Good Burger, “Home of the good burger”, just like the Kennan and Kel movie from the 90’s. The burgers were great, and there was way to many fries to finish, but the prices were a bit higher than i expected. I ended up spending close to $10 for a single patty burger, fries and a drink…but what ca you do…

Today, July 12th, I am spending at General Assembly working some more, before the event tonight. GA is hosting, “Startup Hiring Essentials”, to help teach small - large companies about hiring people locally and even freelancers overseas. It should be very helpful, as my Journey to Find a Co-Founder continues.

Time for lunch…this journey never ends!

First day in the Big City

What a first day so far! Once I got situated in my room, I showered up and headed for the subway. I got right where I needed to be the first time! I’m so proud of myself! I got off the subway in Byrant park, sat down and watched some ping pong. After about 30 minutes of that I remembered i was hungry…oops!

That led to me to the nearest pizza place I could find. Mondello’s Pizza was where I ended up, and I will say I am quite pleased. I ordered two slices, which was dumb because they were huge and I could have settled for one..but oh well, it was worth it. (Yes i finished it, this was halfway through, just to show you all the size compared to the normal tray.)

Once I left there I decided to head back to Bryant Park and searched for something to do. It turns out there was a Film festival going on so i decided to take a seat…it was free so why not. After sitting there alone for 45 minutes I heard someone say it doesn’t start for another 2.5 hours…I gave up and walked back to the subway.

This is where the adventure begins….it turns out I had no idea how to get back to my hotel. All I know is, it is by the Queensboro bridge…so i decided to take the metro to Queens. This is where i messed up. After getting off the metro I realized I was about a 35 minute walk from my hotel…sooo I started my journey.

You know you are in NYC when you walk past graffiti, barbwire, rusty gates, and then a garage full of Ferraris and Lambos.

The story ends peacefully, as I recognized the same “preaching people” with white robes and caps on, that I saw this morning, that were a block away from my hotel…only in NYC.

Only the first day and so much to talk about. Tomorrow I will be stopping in at General Assembly to get some work done and go to an event around 6pm.

  10. Photo Finally Arrived! After much anticipation, I am finally here. This photo is shot from my hotel room, looking right at the city towers and the Queensboro bridge. Just close enough to hear the sirens and horns in the city!
What a place! You can feel the vibe and energy just looking out the window at those tall towers. The concrete jungle as some people like to say.
Now its time to find the best place to grab a bite to eat before exploring!
